About BaniFin

South African business management — finance, payroll, and compliance in one place.

BaniFin is a business management platform built specifically for South African small and medium enterprises — from solo freelancers to teams of 250. We built it because most software on the market forces a choice: generic global accounting tools that don't understand SARS or the Department of Employment & Labour, or expensive enterprise payroll/HR systems built for a different scale of business entirely.

We build for business owners who want to invoice clients, pay staff correctly, and stay compliant — without needing an accountant on retainer or a payroll administrator on staff.

What we do

🧾

Invoicing & AR

Quotes, professional invoices, VAT, and payment tracking with a full accounts receivable workflow.

💸

Money management

Expenses, income, and budgets with overspend alerts — plus a hardware asset register with SARS depreciation.

👥

Full payroll runs with PAYE, UIF, and SDL, payslips and bank export, plus BCEA-aligned leave and disciplinary records.

📄

Contracts

A contract repository with key date tracking that drives payroll salary structures directly.

🇿🇦

SARS & Dept of Labour filings

VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5/e@syFile, COIDA Return of Earnings, and UI-19/uFiling — prepared straight from your live payroll data.

🔒

POPIA-aligned privacy

Encrypted personal and banking data, plus built-in tools to handle data-subject access and deletion requests.

Our aims

Compliance in South Africa is not one form, it's dozens — SARS, the Compensation Fund, the Department of Employment & Labour, each with its own reference number, deadline, and rules that change from year to year. Our aim is to close that gap ourselves, in software, so a business owner never has to become an expert in it. Every filing BaniFin prepares reads from the same live payroll and financial data, rather than a spreadsheet copied from memory.

We are not trying to be everything for every business worldwide. We would rather do fewer things correctly for South African SMEs than many things approximately for everyone.

Built for South Africa

Every number in BaniFin is in South African Rand. VAT is 15% by default, addresses use SA provinces, and the tax year runs 1 March – 28 February throughout. We did not localise a foreign product — we built this from scratch for the South African context, including the statutory filings most global tools leave out entirely.

BaniFin is a product of BAYT ULAB (Pty) Ltd, currently in active development ahead of general availability. Features are added regularly based on feedback from real users. If something is missing that you need, tell us.
